ISO DIS 22316 on ballot

ISO/TC 292 is in the development of a standard on organizational resilience. The project has now reached the stage Draft International Standard (DIS) is being balloted for a 3 months period. At this stage it is also possible for the public to give comments to their National Standards Body on the draft.

Organizational resilience is the ability of an organization to respond and adapt to change. Resilience enables organizations to anticipate and respond to threats and opportunities, arising from sudden or gradual changes in their internal and external context. Enhancing resilience should be a strategic organizational goal.

ISO 22316 provides guidance to enhance organizational resilience for any size or type of public or private organization and is not specific to any industry or sector. It can be applied throughout the life of an organization. ISO 22316 does not promote uniformity in approach across all organizations, as specific objectives and initiatives should be tailored to suit an individual organization’s requirements.

The Standard establishes the principles for organizational resilience. It identifies the attributes and activities that support an organization in enhancing its resilience. It is structured to align with the three parts :

Principles provide the foundation for enhancing an organization’s resilience;

Attributes describe the characteristics of an organization that allow the principles to be achieved; and

Activities guide the utilization, evaluation and enhancement of attributes.

The ballot on ISO/DIS 22316 Security and resilience — Guidelines for organizational resilience  closes on 13 of July and requires to be approved a two-thirds majority of the P-members of the TC 292 are in favour and not more than one-quarter of the total number of votes cast are negative.
