Norma McCormick (Canada), the project leader responsible for deloping ISO 22300, explains:

"An important aspect to consider when developing terminology standards are not to use words or phrases that present problems in translation. This concern will be addressed in the revision process so it is important to involve representatives of the language groups into which our standards may be translated. At our Cape Town meeting, five languages were present (German, Russian, French, Afrikaans and English). Additional participation by others interested in translation issues will be welcomed."
